The Department of Commerce established in the year 1963-64 at Malda College enjoys a finest reputation for the excellence of its teaching in this dynamic discipline. It ranks alongside the most highly-rated departments in commerce among the undergraduate colleges of this region. The department is supported by a dedicated team of faculties who aim at effectively delivering a course in Commerce, which is prominent for uniformly maintaining its standards of academic excellence over the years. The quality of students in the undergraduate programme is commendable. The undergraduate programme in Commerce specially aims at shaping the higher academic skills of the students.

B.Com (Hons & Gen): Annual System
University conducts final examination as follows
Part-I at the end of 1st Year
Part-II at the end of 2nd Year
Part-III at the end of 3rd Year
Besides, the Department organizes class tests /MCQ test on a regular basis and also take a test examination centrally just before University final exam.
The department takes active participation in Remedial coaching for academically backward students. Moreover, department organizes parent/guardians-teachers meeting to grow their awareness on the performance of the students.Department conducts academic seminar to enrich the academic environment. Department also arranges for special lectures from people with practical experience
Department has its own room with computer and internet facility. Department has also its own small Seminar Library.
Presently, the department has six dedicated experienced teachers in substantive posts, and one guest faculty member always try to impart best quality teaching to the students and take initiative in order to grow academic interest among the students.
