About the department:

The Department of English, Malda College, is one of the premier departments of the college. It is supported by a dedicated team of associate and assistant professors who aim at effectively delivering instruction in English. The department is renowned for uniformly maintaining its standards of academic excellence over the years. The quality of students in the undergraduate programme is commendable. The undergraduate programme in English specially aims at shaping the interpretative and critical skills of the students. Most of the members of the faculty are involved in serious academic research. The latest feather in the cap of the Department is the introduction of regular (self-financed) postgraduate department, which has had been successfully functioning since 2003.

The Department of English, Malda College, also organises U.G.C.-funded national-level seminars, participated by delegates of international reputation, for academic enrichment of the region of northern Bengal.
